These cards are designed to be displayed around the classroom. They highlight the learning that goes on when children are engaged in independent tasks.  A great way of showing that the children are not "just playing".

They are especially useful for mixed Reception and Year 1 classes, as they clearly show what the Year 1 children can learn from play based activities.

For each of 12 classroom areas there are two cards.  The first shows a selection of relevant learning objectives taken from the National Curriculum.  They are clearly referenced with the subject and objective number.  The second set of cards suggest key questions to move the children's thinking forwards as they are playing.

The 12 areas featured in these cards are; Role Play Area, Writing Area, Book Corner, Sand, Water, Listening Station, Construction, Computer, Art Area, Outdoor Area, Dressing Up and Music Area. (The objectives & questions are the same for Dressing Up & Role Play Area, but it may be useful to have them presented under both headings.)
