5 Little Monkeys

Great resources to use when teaching the rhyme '5 little monkeys jumping on the bed'.

Included is:

     

  • an A4 sheet showing the 5 monkeys, mummy monkey and the doctor - these could be cut and used to enact the rhyme.

     

     

  • an A4 sheet (pictured) showing the bed and the phrase for the children to complete after counting how many monkeys they have.

     

     

  • numeral cards showing 0 - 5

     

     

  • numeral cards showing 0 - 5 and the corresponding number of monkeys

     

     

  • an A4 sheet showing the first verse of the rhyme.

     

 

Number Bonds for 20

Designed to help children recall pairs of numbers that total 20. Included are 6 colourful bingo boards, ready for you to print and laminate.

To play, simply call out numbers from 0 to 20. Children check their boards to see if it can be added to one of their numbers to make 20. They then write matching numbers into the corresponding star.

Bear Numbers

A set of bear shaped cards showing numerals 0 - 26. There are 4 cards on an A4 page.

The font used is Primary Sassoon.

Great for group work or independent play.

Coin Fans

 

A set of 8 fan petals showing British coins – 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

Colour and Shape Cards

Counting Powerpoint

This is a great resource for developing numeral recognition to 10 and providing a counting opportunity.

This resource shows pictures of 1 - 10 animals with the question 'How many . . . can you see?', followed by another slide revealing the answer.

Daisy Number Line

 

Perfect for spring, these cards will brighten the classroom up.

There are four cards per A4 page, showing numbers 0 - 30.

Double Dominoes

 

This popular resource is a set of colourful domino cards showing doubles from 1 - 10. Accompanying each domino are two smaller cards showing the corresponding number sentence and saying "double 1" etc.

There are lots of ways that the cards could be used, for example;

as an addition activity

to encourage rapid recall of doubles

as a display

The cards are supplied ready for you to print. The font used is Sassoon Primary. The cards are in blue, red, yellow and green - perfect for creating an eye-catching display.

Firework Bingo Game

 

This resource contains four bingo cards (two on an A4 page) each showing four numbers from 0-9.

It would be great to use to practice numeral recognition.

Fishing Game

This resource is designed to help children link sounds to the letters that represent them and recognise numerals to 25. Included are 63 fish cards, ready for you to print and laminate.

Number fish could be used to generate numbers for addition or subtraction problems.

The cards could also be used to create a phonics or number display.

Letter fish - blue lettering (32 cards) - b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, y, z, sh, ch, th, ll, ss, ff, zz, wh, qu, ng, qu.

Letter fish - red lettering (5 cards) - a, e, i, o, u

Number fish - green lettering (26 cards) - 0 - 25.

These fans are designed to help children recognise fractions and also provide a quick and easy way for children to give an answer during whole class sessions.

Home Number Bingo

 

This colourful game is designed to help children recognise numerals from 1-20. Included are 10 bingo boards in total, ready for you to print and laminate.

I have created two sets of 5 bingo cards, so that you can differentiate for groups of children.

The first set (green outline) uses numbers 1-10.

The second set (blue outline) uses numbers 11-20.

To play, simply call a number and ask the child to mark it off on their board if they have it. Variations could include asking children to count a series of claps and mark off the corresponding number or giving clues such as "the number that is one more than 2"

Large Number Cards

A set of 26 A5 cards showing numerals 0-26 with a colourful rainbow border.

Ideal for creating a class number line.

Money Vocabulary

24 word cards showing key vocabulary when teaching money.

There are 4 cards on a page, each with a rainbow border and red font.

Monkey Number Cards

Create a great number line with this set of monkey number cards.

There are two cards per page, showing numbers 0 - 25.

Muffin Number Bond Cards

 

A set of 11 A5 cards showing between 0 and 10 muffins in a box. There is a number sentence underneath each card (e.g. 10 + ? = 10) to encourage children to think about how many more muffins they will need to make 10.

Accompanying the cards are strips of 1 - 10 muffins that can be placed on the card to make 10. So for 4 + ? = 10 children would place the strip with 6 muffins on top.

This is a very visual way of teaching children about number bonds and could be used as a matching activity.

Number Bingo

 

Designed to help children recognise numerals from 0-20 and read the name of numbers one to twenty. Included are 22 bingo boards in total, ready for you to print and laminate.

I have created three sets of bingo cards so that you can focus on one skill at a time. All sets are included in the price.

The first set (red and green) uses numbers 0-10. There are six cards in this set.

The second set (blue and yellow) uses numbers 10-20. There are six cards in this set.

The third set (turquoise and purple) uses number words e.g. "one", "three", "seventeen". There are 10 cards in this set.

0 –50 Number Cards

 

This resource is a set of rainbow number cards showing numerals 0-50. The numbers are in alternate colours, to help children learn about odd and even numbers.

There are lots of ways that the cards could be used, for example;

make a number line from 0-50

select cards to show a pattern e.g. counting in twos

print two sets to make a pairs game

use as flashcards

turn face down and choose two to generate numbers for addition and subtraction problems

Number Fans

 

A set of number fan petals which show 0-20. The petals are alternate colours, to help children learn about odd and even numbers.

These fans are designed to help children recognise numbers and also provide a quick and easy way for children to give an answer during whole class sessions.

Although 0-9 fans can be used to create two digit numbers, this is often difficult for small hands. Therefore, I have also included the 10-20 petals.

Homes Playdough Cards

A set of 6 A4 playdough cards - great for a topic on homes.

Each card shows a numbered house (1-6) and asks the children to make the corresponding number of windows.

Playdough Cards

20 numeracy activity cards suitable for laminating and using with playdough.

There are three activties -

Flower addition cards - 6 A4 cards showing two sets of flowers in two colours with an addition sign in the middle (max of 11 flowers per card). Children could shape flowers out of the dough and match to the flowers on the cards - a practical way of introducing addition.

Numeral cards - 10 A5 cards showing numerals 0-9 in a chunky font and bright colours. Children could roll sausages of dough and use them to form each numeral. This is a good activity for numeral recognition.

Shape Faces - 4 A4 cards featuring faces created from 2-d shapes. The shapes that are used include circle, square, rectangle, triangle, star and cross. All shapes are a black outline, ready for children to fill with dough cut to the same shape.

Positional Language Cards

A great set of 45 cards showing key vocabulary for position, direction and movement.

There are four cards on an A4 page, each showing a different term.

Shape Wands

 

A set of 4 different shape wands. They are great for motivating children to spot shapes in their environment.

Give each child a wand, and ask them to look through the viewer to find matching shapes. This could be a great guided or independent activity.

On each page there two of each wand - circle, square, triangle and rectangle. The name of the shape is written on the handle.

The wands are supplied ready for you to print, laminate and cut viewing holes in.

Toy Number Line

There are two cards on an A4 page, each showing a numeral and toy illustration.

Also included on the CD is all the software needed to view the resources e.g. Adobe Reader.
