A collection of 16 resources with a minibeast theme. They are suitable for Foundation Stage and Key Stage One 

Also included is a medium term planning document in Word format.  All files are in pdf format and in Sassoon Primary font unless stated otherwise.

Bee Number Line 

Each of the 11 cards shows a numeral 0 - 10, a beehive and the corresponding amount of bees.

The cards could be used to order numerals, count numbers to 10, find the card that has one more/less bee etc.

Butterfly Number Bingo

This resource is designed to help children recognise numerals from 0-20.

Included are 15 bingo boards in total, ready for you to print and laminate.

The cards are in three sets of 5 cards using numbers 0 – 10, 5 – 15 and 10 – 20.

There are 5 numbers on each board underneath colourful butterfly illustrations.

11 A4 cards each showing a colourful butterfly and numeral 0 – 11.

Butterfly Penny Game 

Designed to help children count sets of up to 10, recognise a 1p coin, recognise addition and subtraction signs and add two sets of objects.

Included are 6 colourful game boards and a set of calling cards. The cards give instructions such as "add 1", "+ 2", "-3" or "miss a go".

The aim of the game is to collect 10 pennies. Each child takes a card from the pile and follows the instruction. You could change the kind of cards in the pile to make the game easier or harder. Play continues until each child has collected 10 pennies.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cards  

The first part of the resource consists of 7 cards showing the days of the week and a picture of the food that the caterpillar eats on each day (3 or 4 cards on an A4 page).

Also included are a set of A5 cards showing what happens on each day and key parts of the text.

Ladybird Alphabet 

Just the thing to liven up your classroom. These ladybirds would make a great display. 26 cards showing each letter of the alphabet. They are A6 in size.

Ladybird Number Bond Cards 

Support your children to remember number bonds for 5 and 10 with these attractive cards.

Each A4 page shows a ladybird with dots arranged to show each of the ways to make 5 and then 10.

Underneath, the number bond is shown as a number sentence.

There are 17 cards in total.

Minibeast PowerPoint 

A resource to support counting to 9 and numeral recognition. The first of each pair of slides asks ‘How many . . . can you see?’ and shows sets of different minibeasts. The second slide reveals the numeral. There are 18 slides in total, covering 1 – 9.

Minibeast Alliteration 

Play a matching game with these 18 cards, asking children to find pairs of words that start with the same letter. There are 9 pairs to match – amazing ant, buzzy bee, creeping caterpillar, dazzling dragonfly, fast fly, growing greenfly, leaping ladybird, slithering snail and wiggly worm. The second card in each pair also includes an illustration of the minibeast.

10 illustrated cards (2 on an A4 page) each showing a different minibeast.

They would be ideal promote discussion and extend vocabulary.

Minibeast Spotter

A great addition to a minibeast themed role play area or to encourage the children to engage in mark making outside. This spotter sheet shows 11 minibeasts with space for the children to write next to each one.

Snail Number Line 

Create an attractive number line from 20 A5 snail number cards.

Writing Frames

A set of 6 minibeast themed writing frames. There are a variety of layouts including a postcard and lined sheet.
