This resource includes 34 illustrated phoneme frame cards, ready for you to print and laminate.   They are  designed to help children identify initial, medial and final sounds in CVC (Consonant Vowel Consonant) words and read the letters that represent them. 

Each card features a picture of a CVC object. Underneath the picture, there is a phoneme frame with either the initial, medial or final sound missing.

Children must identify the missing sound and then write it in the space on the phoneme frame.  They could also use a magnetic letter to complete the word.  The cards are A4 size, so would also be useful for whole class phonics work.

The cards include: 

Initial sounds missing (18 cards) - sun, man, lip, cap, tap, gum, pig, ant, rat, dog, bat, fan, hen, vet, web, zip, jug & nut.

Final sound missing (6 cards)  - bus, jam, hat, peg, map & red.

Medial sound missing (10 cards) - leg, bed, cup, mum, mop, doll, van, cat, bin & tin.
