These fans are designed to help children recognise the letters which represent the sounds in words.  Children can also arrange several letters on the fan to make a word.

Group 1 (green) - s, m, c, t, g, p, a, o.

Group 2 (blue) - r, l, d, b, f, g, h, i, u (and a & o repeated to allow you to build more words)

Group 3 (red) - v, w, y, z, j, n, k, e

Group 4 (yellow) - ll, ss, ff, zz

Group 5 (violet) - sh, ch, th, wh.

Group 6 (orange) - ck, ng, qu, x.

Group 7 (grey) - ai, oa, ie, ee, or, oo, ou, oi, ue, er, ar.
