A selection of numeracy activities, ready for you to print and laminate, including:

Playdough Cards

10 A4 playdough cards showing a leaf and the instruction "Put ..(1-10) caterpillars on the leaf".

  Ask children to use playdough to make the corresponding amount of caterpillars. Great for encouraging numeral recognition and accurate counting to 10. 

Subtraction Playdough Cards

6 A4 cards showing a leaf, clear instructions e.g. "Put 6 caterpillars on the leaf, take 4 away" and a subtraction sum e.g. 6 - 4 =

Ask children to make playdough caterpillars to solve the question. There is a space to write the answer.

 Doubles Addition Playdough Cards

6 A4 cards showing a leaf, clear instructions e.g. "Put 4 caterpillars on each leaf" and an addition sum e.g.4 + 4 =   There are cards for double 1 - 6 

Ask children to make playdough caterpillars to solve the question.  There is a space to write the answer. 

Counting 10/20 Caterpillar Game

1 A4 card showing a caterpillar with sections numbered 1 - 10 and 1 A4 card showing two caterpillars with sections numbered 1 - 10 and 11 - 20.  Instruction reads Can you collect 10/20 counters? 

Print a card for each child who is playing.  Children could throw a dice and place the corresponding number of counters or buttons onto their caterpillar.  Play continues until they have covered all of the sections.  Great for developing counting, numeral recognition and addition skills.

 Counting Cards

4 A4 cards showing 2 caterpillars with bodies made of 1-10 sections .  Instruction reads "How many sections does each caterpillar have?"  

Ask children to count how many sections each caterpillar has and write the total into the box provided.

 Numeral Ordering Caterpillars

1 A4 page containing numbered green circles (1 - 20) and a caterpillar head.  

Cut out circles and ask children to place them in order to create the caterpiillar's body.  This activity could be simplified using only numbers to 5/10 or extended by giving children a set of random numbers. 

Missing Number Caterpillars 1- 10

4 A4 cards showing a caterpillar with 10 sections in his body, 5 sections numbered and 5 sections for the children to fill in.  Instruction reads "Can you write in the missing numbers?"

Ask children to work out which numbers are missing and fill in the blank sections.
